The first year of Parallax introduces independent and artistic films that use the S-3D technology. S-3D films are no longer the domain of big Hollywood blockbusters; there is an exciting independent scene coming up that is not afraid to experiment with the S-3D technology. Wim Wenders, Werner Herzog or Pedro Almodovar are one of the most acclaimed representatives of this movement on the international scale. In our conditions, we can name Jan Nemec, one of the pioneers of Czech S-3D film, who will also be one of the honorary guests of the Parallax Festival.
3D stereo technology (S3D) is a technique that generates an illusion of depth in a moving image displaying two offset images separately to the right and left eye of the observer.
The two offset images are both seen as 2D to the viewer and are synthesized by the brain as a single three dimensional image. There are several ways to create a 3D moving image, most of which necessitate that the viewer wear 3D glasses except for autostereoscopic 3D. Also known as stereoscopic 3D.
